> ## Agent Instructions
> Driven is a sales-compensation platform. Use its terminology: Compensation Plan, Compensation, KPI, Manual KPI, User Variable, Quota, Performance, Payout (Draft, Approved, Paid, Cancelled), Correction, Adjustment. Payout types are equal, deferred and advance. Default roles are Admin and Employee; companies can add custom roles. The Driven Agent builds plans from uploaded documents and chat. The Compensation Builder is where compensations are configured.

# What locking means

> Once your payout is approved, the amount stays as it was. Later changes to deals or the plan do not change it.

Approval locks the payout. **Approved**, **Paid** and **Cancelled** payouts stay as they were at that moment. A **Draft** does not. It still follows current deals and the current plan.

On a locked payout you still see the status, the compensation breakdown and the deals that counted. **Comment** is the only action.

## What stays fixed

The amount you were approved for does not change if, later:

* A deal is edited in the CRM, or a new deal would have counted
* The formula, KPI, filter or quota is changed
* Your base salary or another user variable is changed

That is what makes an approved payout a record of what was agreed. Comments still work, and they do not change the amount.

If a plan change should have changed what you were paid, the difference can be added to a later payout. The locked payout stays as it was. Your admin decides that when they publish the change. See [Corrections](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/corrections.md).

## Back in review

An admin can send an **Approved** payout back to draft. The lock is removed and the amount is calculated again, so it may change. You are told when that happens.

A **Paid** payout stays locked.
