# Driven Knowledge Base > Help center for Driven, the sales-compensation platform that calculates commissions from CRM opportunities using configurable compensation plans. > ## Agent Instructions > Driven is a sales-compensation platform. Use its terminology: Compensation Plan, Compensation, KPI, Manual KPI, User Variable, Quota, Performance, Payout (Draft, Approved, Paid, Cancelled), Correction, Adjustment. Payout types are equal, deferred and advance. Default roles are Admin and Employee; companies can add custom roles. The Driven Agent builds plans from uploaded documents and chat. The Compensation Builder is where compensations are configured. - [Get started](https://docs.driven.work/get-started/index.md): Connect your CRM, then build your first compensation plan with the Driven Agent. - [Connect your CRM](https://docs.driven.work/get-started/connect-your-crm.md): Connect HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive so the Driven Agent can build a plan from your deals. - [Build your first plan](https://docs.driven.work/get-started/create-your-first-plan.md): Upload your compensation plan and let the Driven Agent create the plan, people and draft compensations. - [Driven Agent](https://docs.driven.work/driven-agent/index.md): The Driven Agent builds compensation plans from a conversation, and answers questions about your own payouts. - [Build a plan with the agent](https://docs.driven.work/driven-agent/build-a-plan-with-the-agent.md): Upload a compensation plan and chat with the Driven Agent to create the plan, people, quotas and draft compensations. - [Compensation Builder](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/index.md): A compensation plan holds one or more compensations. The builder is where you set the KPI, quota, filter and formula. - [Row-based and totals](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/calculation-methods.md): Row-based compensations pay per deal. Totals and aggregates pay on the whole period, which is how tiers and accelerators work. - [KPIs](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/kpis.md): A KPI is the metric a compensation measures, such as closed revenue or number of deals, taken from your CRM and filtered to the deals that count. - [Manual KPIs](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/manual-kpis.md): A manual KPI is a metric you type in yourself, one value per period, shared across the company instead of read from the CRM. - [User variables](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/user-variables.md): User variables are per-person amounts in a formula, such as Base Salary and Variable Salary, each with a history of effective dates. - [Quotas](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/quotas.md): A quota is the performance a compensation expects for one period. It can be the same for everyone, set per person, or rolled up to a manager. - [Formulas](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/formulas.md): The payout formula turns KPI performance into money. Display formulas add extra figures. Both accept spreadsheet functions plus Driven attainment functions. - [Payout period and compensation period](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/payout-period-vs-compensation-period.md): How often you pay can differ from the period the KPI and quota cover. Driven treats that as an equal, deferred or advance payout. - [Corrections](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/corrections.md): A correction is the difference between what a locked payout paid and what the current rules say it should have paid. You choose whether to add it to the next payout or write it off. - [Users](https://docs.driven.work/users/index.md): People in Driven come from your CRM or are added by hand. Each person has a status, a role and their own user variables. - [Invite and enable users](https://docs.driven.work/users/invite-and-enable-users.md): CRM users are synced automatically. Invite them to sign in, or create a user by hand when they are not in the CRM. - [Roles](https://docs.driven.work/users/roles.md): Every person has a role. Admin and Employee are built in. Custom roles are created under Settings, Roles. - [Manage user variables](https://docs.driven.work/users/manage-user-variables.md): Set Base Salary, Variable Salary and custom amounts per person, with an effective date for each change. - [Plan membership](https://docs.driven.work/users/plan-membership.md): Add people to a compensation plan, set the date they start, and archive them when they leave the plan. - [Teams](https://docs.driven.work/users/teams.md): Teams group people under a manager. Roll-up quotas and the managed-members filter use that relationship. - [Payouts](https://docs.driven.work/payouts/index.md): A payout is what one person is owed for one period. It moves from Draft to Approved to Paid, and can be Cancelled. - [Approve payouts](https://docs.driven.work/payouts/approval-flow.md): Approve a draft to lock it, mark it paid once the money has moved, or send an approved payout back to draft. - [Locking](https://docs.driven.work/payouts/locking.md): Approving a payout freezes the deals, formulas, KPI, quotas and variables it was calculated with. Later changes do not alter it. - [Adjustments](https://docs.driven.work/payouts/adjustments.md): On a draft payout you can change a deal's commission, exclude a deal, or add an extra item. The payout total cannot go below zero. - [Export payouts](https://docs.driven.work/payouts/export.md): Download the payouts you are looking at as a CSV, for the payout itself or split by month, quarter or year. - [Integrations](https://docs.driven.work/integrations/index.md): Connect HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive so Driven can sync deals, and connect Claude to read plans and payouts. - [HubSpot](https://docs.driven.work/integrations/hubspot.md): Connect HubSpot to sync users, pipelines, deal properties and deals into Driven about once an hour. - [Salesforce](https://docs.driven.work/integrations/salesforce.md): Connect Salesforce to sync users, pipelines, opportunity fields and opportunities into Driven about once an hour. - [Pipedrive](https://docs.driven.work/integrations/pipedrive.md): Connect Pipedrive to sync users, pipelines, deal fields and deals into Driven about once an hour. - [Claude and MCP](https://docs.driven.work/integrations/mcp.md): Connect Claude to your Driven company with a read-only MCP connector, so it can answer questions about plans, people, performance and payouts. - [Chrome extension](https://docs.driven.work/integrations/chrome-extension.md): Install the Driven Chrome extension to view and manage your payouts inside HubSpot, without leaving the CRM. - [Commission carriers](https://docs.driven.work/guides/sales-reps/index.md): For sales reps, partner managers and anyone else paid on a plan. Follow your plan, your payouts, and how approval and locking work. - [View your plan](https://docs.driven.work/guides/sales-reps/view-your-plan.md): See your compensation plan, targets and progress in Driven. - [Understand your payout](https://docs.driven.work/guides/sales-reps/understand-your-payout.md): See how your payout was calculated from your performance. - [How approval works](https://docs.driven.work/guides/sales-reps/approval-flow.md): Your payout moves from in review, to approved, to paid. You are told at each step. You do not approve it yourself. - [What locking means](https://docs.driven.work/guides/sales-reps/locking.md): Once your payout is approved, the amount stays as it was. Later changes to deals or the plan do not change it. This documentation is built and hosted on [Mintlify](https://mintlify.com), a developer documentation platform.
