> ## Agent Instructions
> Driven is a sales-compensation platform. Use its terminology: Compensation Plan, Compensation, KPI, Manual KPI, User Variable, Quota, Performance, Payout (Draft, Approved, Paid, Cancelled), Correction, Adjustment. Payout types are equal, deferred and advance. Default roles are Admin and Employee; companies can add custom roles. The Driven Agent builds plans from uploaded documents and chat. The Compensation Builder is where compensations are configured.

# Plan membership

> Add people to a compensation plan, set the date they start, and archive them when they leave the plan.

A person is paid by a plan only while they are on it. Membership is per plan. Someone can be on several plans, with a different start date on each.

Open the plan in **Plan designer** and go to **People**. The heading is **Assignees**, with the subtitle **Edit who belongs to this plan**.

## Add someone

**1. Choose the person**

Click **Add user(s)** and pick them in **Add user to plan**. They need to exist under **Users & Teams** first. See [Invite and enable users](https://docs.driven.work/users/invite-and-enable-users.md).

**2. Set the Plan join date**

**Plan join date** is the day they start participating. Deals that count before that date are left out of their calculations, including draft payouts and the builder preview. Payouts that are already approved, paid or cancelled keep the deals they were locked with.

**3. Fill in variables and quotas**

Enter the **User variables** and **Quotas** the plan's compensations require.

The people table shows **Assignee**, **Plan join date** and **Status**. **All good** means nothing required is missing. Otherwise the status names the gap, for example **Missing quota in compensation(s): New business**. **Set join date** edits the date in the row. The pencil icon opens **Edit join date**.

Changing a Plan join date does not rewrite locked payouts. It does change who is eligible from that date forward, and it changes [quota windowing](https://docs.driven.work/compensation-builder/quotas.md) for monthly compensations.

## Archive someone

**Archive** removes them from future calculations. The confirmation explains the effect:

* **Future payouts will no longer be created for this person**
* **Draft payouts will be removed**
* **Paid and cancelled payouts will be kept**

Approved payouts are kept as well, because they are locked. Archive is the right action when someone leaves the plan but you still need their paid history.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Archiving deletes their draft payouts. Approve anything you still intend to pay before you archive them.
