Use a manual KPI when the number does not live on a deal. Common cases are a manager’s assessment, a number from a spreadsheet, or a metric your CRM does not store. On the KPI tab, set KPI data source to Manual. The subtitle is Enter KPI actuals yourself.

Enter actuals

Fill-in actuals is a table with two columns:
  • Effective from, the day this value starts
  • Value, the KPI for the period that starts on that day
Click Add actual…. Driven fills the date with the start of the next period, using the KPI period and your fiscal year. Add one row per period. No rows yet. is the empty state. The trash icon deletes a row. The value is company-wide. Everyone whose compensation uses this manual KPI reads the same number for that period. It is not a per-person field. Per-person amounts belong in user variables.

How a formula sees it

The manual KPI appears as a chip on the KPI row of the formula editor. In the formula it is a single number for the compensation period, including in a row-based compensation. Rows do not each get their own actual. If no actual covers the period, the formula treats the KPI as zero.

Switching back to the CRM

Choosing From Integration again opens Switch to integration data?. Switch source drops the manual actuals and reads the KPI from deals instead.
Changing a manual KPI that was already used in an approved or paid payout does not change that payout. Publish the compensation and review the difference. See Corrections.
